Curating immersive and meaningful spaces

Past Work

Nicolaus Cupernicus Planetarium

The Nicolaus Cupernicus Planetarium Nuremberg is the largest planetarium in Southern Germany and a long-standing institution of science education for all age groups. With its fulldome projection and diverse shows and events it attracts over 50,000 visitors annually.

During my employment between 2013 and 2015 I supervised close to 100 events by external professionals from the arts and science communities and managed projections, lighting and sound in the dome throughout.

UKC Psychedelics Society

The UKC Psychedelics Society is the UK’s oldest academic society on entheogens, drug-assisted therapy, harm reduction and related topics. It is also the powerhouse behind Breaking Convention, Europe’s largest conference on psychedelics. As president of the society (2016-2018) I organised over 100 lectures from diverse scientific and cultural fields alongside other events, such as exhibitions, workshops and socials.

Music From East Africa

Since 2021 I have been co-managing Music From East Africa, a Kenya-based label for traditional East African music. The project goes far beyond releasing and distributing music: We scout musicians in rural areas, bring the studio to their villages and record them, arrange fair and transparent contracts and promote their work on our platforms.

We further hold cultural events and workshops where our signed musicians give introductions to the cultural context of their particular musical styles. Here, we also introduce traditional instruments to audiences and give participatory workshops on how to build and/or play them.

Overall, Music From East Africa serves as a platform to showcase the multi-ethnic diversity that constitutes the musical heritage from the region.

Building Fortress Europe

Born out of need for an encompassing and data-driven account on European migration control, I gathered a small team and between 2018 and 2021 created Building Fortress Europe, an interactive website exploring European border politics via maps, graphs and videos.

The visual curation and interactive programming of migration data was an integral task, as the website seeks to engage expert and novice audiences alike. Building Fortress Europe has been showcased on Routed Magazine and Oxford University’s COMPAS website and is used as a learning tool for migration-related courses in some European universities.
